Red Dot Report: Lino Tagliapietra work sells for $245,000 at SOFA

Taking over three months to make, and featuring 125 individual elements, Lino Tagliapietra‘s wall-mounted homage to the history of Murano glass and its Roman and Islamic influences was sold for nearly a quarter-of-a-million dollars on Saturday, November 6th, to a collector from Florida. Rendered in the glass-copper mix known as avventura in Italian (or “adventure” or “chance” in English in reference to its accidental discovery when copper fell into some glass batch), the 2010 work entitled Aventurine, was a notable look backward for this leading figure in glass art known for his relentless innovations to centuries-old tradition.
