Two Day Pate de Verre
September 21st - September 28thCatarina Cubelo |
In this two day workshop, come and have fun making a one of a kind Pãte de verre bowl. Pâte de Verre is a kiln-formed technique utilizing finely crushed glass frit, mixed with water and a binding agent which is applied to the surface of a refractory mold. The resulting object can be highly detailed, delicate, or of granular form. You can use the clay from the studio to make your own bowl, bring something ready if you want to spend time perfecting it at home or don ́t worry if you are not good with clay we can take a mold from a pre-existing plastic bowl from the studio. Due to the short class and the painstaking activity of pate de verre the bowls have to be a simple design but not without still remaining beautiful. First 2h will be spent making your clay and making your mold. After a break, you will spend the rest of your time packing your glass. In the second class you will learn how to demold your piece from your refractory mold and how to do simple finishes in the cold-shop.
Dimensions can ́t exceed 3 inches in either direction.
