Catarina Cubelo is an artist, living and working in Brooklyn. Her practice spans across text, video, sculpture,drawing, and sound. The work is sustained by a consistent intention of de-alienation, often working from the contextual attributes of a given environment, rooted in the ways a close examination of a single moment or detail can become acontinuous inquiry of perception. She repurposes the perceived value of common objects by estranging social codes using poetic devices and their power in shifting perceptual, experiential, and behavioural automatisms.
