Crafting Mastery Symposium 2027: Beyond the Curriculum
Save the Date Thursday - Saturday
October 21 - 23, 2027 UrbanGlass | Brooklyn, NY
What does a sustainable career in glass actually look like? Who is responsible for preparing students for professional life? What professional skills are missing from most glass programs? How can we create clearer pathways from graduation to income? What would it mean to treat glass education as workforce development?
Overview
Working in glass is demanding. The work is physical. It is often financially uncertain. It is also deeply rewarding. Many artists sustain their practice by combining different kinds of work. Teaching, fabrication, commissions, and independent projects all play a role. As educators and field leaders, we have an opportunity to better support students as they move into this reality.
About the Symposium
This symposium brings together educators, administrators, studio leaders, industry professionals, and early-career artists. The focus is on what happens after graduation and how that transition can be better supported.
Rather than rethinking curriculum, the conversation looks at what surrounds it. How do students learn to price their work? Where do they find studio access? What pathways exist between school and steady income?
The program will include panels, workshops, and case studies. Together, participants will share strategies and identify approaches that help artists navigate the economic realities of the field and sustain a long-term practice in glass.
We invite educators, artists, and industry professionals to take part and help shape this dialogue. Join the conversation!
Sponsorship Opportunities
We are seeking partners who want to support this work and be part of a national conversation about glass education and professional pathways.
Sponsorship offers visibility with a network of educators, institutions, and working artists. It also supports access, programming, and shared resources that will extend beyond the event itself. If you are interested in sponsoring or partnering, we welcome a conversation.
