Intro to the Cold Shop

September 11th, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
James Corporan |

Join this three-hour intro to the cold shop and become confident in using coldworking equipment on your own! We’ll start with safety, then you’ll get introduced to essential tools like tile saws, grit and diamond wheels, belt sanders, lathes, polishing wheels, sand blasters, and flex shafts. James will show you how to use the main cold shop tools safely and effectively, followed by hands-on practice. In the final hour, work on your own project with guidance and learn clean-up protocols. By the end, you'll feel ready to use the equipment independently, and ready to get coldworking.

What to Expect:Students can expect to watch a number of demonstrations and have time to practice coldworking using different techniques. Tools and materials will be provided. The cold shop equipment can be loud, and all equipment is water fed. Students should wear waterproof shoes, an apron, safety glasses, and ear protection are provided.
