Cleveland Institute of Art
For nearly 140 years, the Cleveland Institute of Art has nurtured individuals to pursue creative careers that matter personally—and to the world. From the start, you’ll think of your work in a professional context, building technical and problem-solving skills. You’ll establish and refine standards of quality for your work, and learn to communicate about your ideas and projects.
In CIA’s collaborative Craft programs, you’ll learn to think and work across disciplines, including glass, ceramics, and jewelry and metals, learning traditional and contemporary techniques as well as the entrepreneurship skills to pursue a career. Our two-story Glass studios offer a broad range of capabilities including working in both hot and cold glass techniques, including glassblowing, cutting, fabricating, sandblasting and polishing; flameworking; and fusion processes such as casting, slumping and bending. Our celebrated alumni are leaders in their fields, working in academia, design and production studios, and exhibiting across the globe.
