High School Camp! Intro to Neon (FREE - STEM)
July 6th - July 17thDid you know all neon signs are handmade from glass tubing? Light up the summer with a glowing neon masterpiece of your own design! Beginning with an exploration of how noble gasses interact with electrical currents to produce light, students will investigate the technical and aesthetic aspects of this unique functional art form. Working with various torches to weld and bend glass tubes, students will move through the entire process of bringing their ideas to life; from inspiration, to design, to fabrication. Immersed in the exciting world of a professional art studio, students will also learn about other ways of working with glass, discover creative careers in art, design, education and entrepreneurship, and see how art and science intersect through the fascinating material properties of glass.
