High School Camp! Intro to Stained Glass (FREE - STEM)

August 4th - August 15th
Kelsie McNair |

From geometric patterns to classical narratives, stained glass windows tell dazzling stories through the interplay of color and light. Step into the wide world of glass imagery and design your own radiant stories in glass! Students will learn how to draw patterns, select color palettes, cut sheet glass, sand with grinders, and solder the pieces together into flat panels and 3D sculptures using the Tiffany copper foil method. Advanced imagery techniques like enamel painting and glass fusing will be covered to take your designs to the next level. Immersed in the exciting world of a professional art studio, students will also learn about other ways of working with glass, discover creative careers in art, design, education and entrepreneurship, and see how art and science intersect through the fascinating material properties of glass.

This is a FREE camp offered in collaboration with STEM Matters NYC, a Dept. of Education program that partners with cultural institutions to provide enrichment programs during spring and summer break for students in grades K-12. This program is open to NYC public and charter school students entering grades 10-12. Spots are limited and application based.
