Make A Neon Shape! (2.5 hour slots)

June 18th, 10:00 am – 7:30 pm
Jess Krichelle, Emily Craddock |

Make your very own neon light! In this private introductory lesson, students will learn all of the steps to transform hollow glass tubes into stunning illuminated neon. Starting with the basics of glass tube bending using the heat of a torch, students will then learn about following patterns to make a specific sign. Students will complete one simple neon sign.

Once their piece is ready, students will observe as their piece is pumped – or filled with noble gas – and illuminated. Each lesson will conclude with a tutorial on how to wire, mount (indoors), and care for your new artwork before taking your masterpiece home. Note: Students will have one piece pumped and completed as part of this class.

This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration. Our top priority is keeping our community safe. At UrbanGlass, masks are still required for all ages 2 and older (we recommend a KN95 or KF94 mask). Temperature checks continue at the security desk when entering through the Rockwell entrance. We ask that if you were recently directly exposed to COVID-19 and are awaiting test results that you do not come to class, and we will work with you to find another class placement or refund you the class fee. Current policies are subject to change based on additional information, including the city's new alert levels page.
