Lead Studio Technician and Studio Technician
UrbanGlass seeks a dependable and technically skilled arts professional for two roles in the Studio Team - Lead Studio Technician and Studio Technician. Reporting to the Studio Manager, these roles support the daily operations of the organization’s glassmaking facility and helps maintain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for artists, students, and educators.
The Lead Studio Tech, in collaboration with the Studio Manager, will keep the studio in good working condition, helping to identify, schedule and assist with needed repairs or replacements to minimize disruption to the studio. The Lead Studio Tech additionally supports the Studio Manager in managing the Tech Team and handling logistics to ensuring the smooth operations of the Studio and Education programs as well as any events or activities that take place in the studio.
The Studio Technician works in a hands-on capacity to prepare and maintain studio spaces, assist with opening and closing procedures, and support the upkeep of equipment, tools, and materials. The role also includes enforcing studio rules and safety protocols, providing technical guidance to artists and classes, and assisting with educational and institutional programming.
As part of the Studio team, the Technicians collaborate with staff and the broader community to ensure an organized and professional workspace. This position requires strong communication skills, experience with glassmaking or a related technical craft, and the ability to offer clear, supportive direction in a dynamic studio environment. Regular onsite presence and participation in team meetings are expected for both roles
