UGH! From Object to Wax

Join artist and instructor Dorie Guthrie for a session all about taking an object and turning it into a wax positive to use in casting or mold blowing, or to create wax multiples. Topics covered will include common mold materials such as silicone and alginate, the best applications for different types of waxes, and much more! Dorie will spend time answering submitted questions, addressing common issues and problem solving needs, and demonstrating techniques livestreamed from the studio as needed.

This conversation is best suited to students with previous kilncasting experience, but students at any level are welcome to join and learn.

This is a virtual class taking place online via Zoom. A Zoom link will be emailed to you upon registration with further instructions for accessing the class.

Dorie Guthrie

Born in 1982 in Moline, Illinois, Dorie Guthrie was first exposed to the medium when she stumbled upon a small glass studio in her hometown. Since graduating from Illinois State University in 2008, Guthrie has continued her studies, being awarded scholarships, at Corning Museum of Glass, Penland School of Craft, and Pittsburgh Glass Center where she furthered her technique.
