Stained Glass Sun Catcher

March 21st, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
Jessica Black |

In this one day workshop, you’ll learn the Tiffany-style copper foil technique while crafting a stained glass suncatcher. Step-by-step instruction ensures a beginner-friendly experience, and you’ll leave with a completed piece to take home. Great for newcomers or those brushing up on their skills.

What to Expect: In this class, you’ll learn the fundamentals of glass cutting, grinding, foiling, and soldering. You may choose from beginner-friendly templates or work with the instructor to create a simple design. The project is kept manageable for a one day class, with a finished size of about 5" x 7" and no more than 10 pieces of glass. The day will include a mix of instructor demonstrations and hands-on practice, with the final 20 minutes reserved for clean-up. This class is open to beginners, while intermediate students are also welcome to brush up on their skills. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.

While working in stained glass, participants engage in seated and standing activities such as cutting and assembling glass pieces. Handling glass and tools may require a certain level of dexterity.  Learn more about accessibility on our website.

Eligibility: No experience required. Open to ages 14 and up.

We recommend registering for classes early to reserve your spot! We base materials, and teacher needs off of student enrollment. Early registration not only guarantees your spot in class, but also helps to ensure the class will run. Classes with low enrollment may be cancelled within two weeks of the start date of class. Contact our Registrar of Education, Ari Eshoo, at arianna@urbanglass.org if you have questions about the class or would like to arrange a payment plan.
