Powder Play: Beadmaking
July 19th - July 21stHolly Cooper |
*This class meets Friday, July 19 6:00pm-9:00pm, Saturday, July 20, 10:00am-6:00pm, Sunday, July 21 10:00am-4:00pm
As bead makers we are always looking for new ways to use materials to lend a uniqueness to our work. In this class we will explore glass enamel powders in new and interesting ways. Enamels will be our paints; interesting methods of application will be our brush; glass beads, our canvas. We will examine and explore color interaction: how colors enhance one another, choosing a color palette, and how color creates luminosity and visual depth. Bring your imagination and willingness to play.
What to Expect: There will be detailed demos and students will practice directly after. Students should expect to make 4-6 beads in the class. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.
Eligibility: Although I will demonstrate stringer and shaping techniques, some ability to shape beads (cylinder and tapered) and intermediate experience is required. Open to ages 12 and up.
Pick-up: The glass needs to cool down overnight then be carefully removed from the mandrels, so the students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.

This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration.
We recommend registering for classes early to reserve your spot! We base materials, and teacher needs off of student enrollment. Early registration not only guarantees your spot in class, but also helps to ensure the class will run. Classes with low enrollment may be cancelled within two weeks of the start date of class. Contact our Registrar of Education, Ari Eshoo, at arianna@urbanglass.org if you have questions about the class or would like to arrange a payment plan.
