Noah Breuer: Table Settings

Opening reception January 25 from 6-8 PM.

In his exhibition at UrbanGlass, Noah Breuer examines themes of family, identity, and legacy through material culture. His research investigates the legacy of Jewish-owned textile printing companies in Czech Bohemia and their role within that economic and cultural landscape. The design motifs in his glass-and-steel window frames, sculptural glass forms and textile prints, each reference circular tablecloths originally designed, printed and distributed in the 1920s and '30s by his ancestor's former textile printing business, “Carl Breuer and Sons.”  

Artist Bio

Noah Breuer (b. 1981, Oakland, CA) received his BFA in printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design, his MFA in Visual Arts from Columbia University and a Graduate Research Certificate in traditional Japanese woodblock printmaking and papermaking from Kyoto Seika University. He currently works as an Assistant Professor at the University at Buffalo, SUNY.
