Nite Lites! Learning the Craft of Neon Glass Work

January 17th - January 21st
Thomas Zickuhr |

In this 5-day workshop, you'll learn the craft and basic science of creating your very own neon piece. From working with the torches and tools needed, to the process of filling the tubes with noble gasses, you’ll learn to sculpt with light! Every student will create, build, and take home their very own neon unit, lit and ready to be displayed.

Already have some neon experience? No problem, we'll work with you to grow the skills you have already learned, to make it even better and brighter.

What to expect: Bombarding and electrode attachment for 5 units of neon are included in this class, as well as a transformer (power) and wiring kit. Past 5 units, students will be charged for electrode attachment and pumping at these rates. The process of bombarding will be explained, but students will not process the neon units. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.

Additional work time for intensive students: Students will also have access to additional hours in the neon studio, without instruction, on Wednesday - Saturday from 1-4pm.

Eligibility: No experience required. Open to ages 14 and up.

Pick-up: You can expect to bring some work to fruition during class that can be taken home at the end of the week. If anything is made on the last day of class, students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.

This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration.
