Next Steps: Hitting Specs

February 22nd - February 23rd
George Dielman |

Repetition is necessary and valuable for refining skills in the hot shop. In this class, students will use their preexisting hot shop experience to approach specific forms and make forms according to specifications. Students will learn to use tools that allow glass blowers to manifest a scaled drawing into an accurate glass object. This class will cover a variety of material, including glass quantity, glass thickness, setting up for form, measuring with calipers, molds, templates, and general consistency.

Some glassblowing experience required.

This class is offered as part of the Next Steps series, a group of weekend hot shop classes designed to focus and expand students’ skills. Take multiple Next Steps weekends to gain access to student hours. Contact kelliek@urbanglass.org for more information.
