Next Steps: Color Fades

February 19th - February 20th
Mike Jess |

Have you been experimenting with color in the hot shop and want to push it further? In this weekend class we will cover the complexities of color gradients in the hot shop. Using the basic overlay technique for color bar we will cover ways to place the color to where you want it to create variance in hues.

Next Step classes are intended for students with previous experience looking to expand their skills in the glassblowing studio. You should have 1-2 years of experience, and feel comfortable gathering, moving through the steps of making a basic cup, and dropping color bar. Not there yet? Check out our more introductory classes to build your skills.

This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration. Proof of vaccination (full vaccination for ages 12+, one dose for ages 5-12) must be shown for in-person classes and studio access. Proof of vaccination* can be shown via:

  • CDC Paper Card
  • Digital Record or Copy of Vaccination Card
  • NYC COVID Safe App
  • Excelsior Pass

Please bring your vaccine record for a visual check on the first day of class. *Any WHO approved vaccines are accepted as part of the city’s order. upon arrival at the studio. More info on our Covid policies can be found here. Our top priority is keeping our community safe. Due to the spike in cases in NYC, we are asking that all students consider getting tested for COVID-19 before coming to class and if you test positive to remain home. We also ask that if you were recently directly exposed to COVID-19 and are awaiting test results that you do not come to class. In any case, we will work with you to find another class placement or refund you the class fee.
