Modern Prometheus

August 19th - August 30th
Amy Lemaire, Ranjit Bhatnagar |

In this workshop, embark on a Promethean exploration into the world of responsive and interactive sculpture. Explore strategies for adding a responsive element to sculpture with physical computing using sensors, microcontrollers, glass, and plasma to create opportunities for interactivity. Curious participants are invited to play and experiment together using a buffet of interactive devices and develop their own work in a Frankenstein’s laboratory-type setting. In the flameshop, we will sculpt borosilicate glass to make both single and double electrode plasma tubes. These can then be controlled with a variety of sensors and programmed using a laptop and microcontroller. Some tech and/or flameworking experience is helpful, but all skill levels are welcome.
