Middle School Camp! Intro to Mosaics (FREE - STEM)

April 22nd - April 26th

From ancient murals across the globe to modern subway art, mosaics are all around us! This timeless artform decorates the floors, walls, and ceilings of the spaces we inhabit, letting us step into stories of the past. Beginning with an understanding of the origins of mosaics and a glassblowing demonstration of how flat glass is made, students will learn how to design, cut, glue, and grout their own mosaic masterpiece. Piecing together simple patterns or elaborate imagery, students will tell their own colorful stories inspired by personal identity and experiences.

This is a FREE camp offered in collaboration with STEM Matters NYC, a Dept. of Education program that partners with cultural institutions to provide enrichment programs during spring and summer break for NYC students in grades K-12. Students are selected through an application process, with priority given to students who attend Title I schools. Please join the STEM Matters NYC mailing list to be notified when applications open for this program: https://spep.libwizard.com/f/m...
