Middle School Camp! Intro to Glass Fusing

July 5th - July 8th

Geometric patterns, abstraction, realism - there is a whole world of styles you can use to tell your story through color and images. Using enamel paints, translucent glass, and layering, students will learn how to create a permanent 3D image in fused glass. Camp will cover how to cut shapes out of colorful sheet glass, paint, then use the heat of a kiln (oven) to bond it all together. Students will craft decorative and functional forms like coasters, pendants, wall tiles, and plates exploring texture, color, and pattern.

No experience necessary. Open to all rising and current middle school students.

UrbanGlass strives to welcome, inspire, instruct, nurture, and propel our students. In an effort to provide greater access to glass education for our growing community of young artists, we are introducing sliding-scale pricing options for summer camps. Please self-select the pricing tier most appropriate for your financial situation. Families who are able to should select the higher tuition so that we can continue to offer our programs with ample staffing of expert teaching artists and top quality glassmaking tools and materials in our state of the art studios.

Please note: Advance registration is required, as enrollment minimums must be met two weeks before the first day of camp. Once you register, you’ll receive enrollment confirmation, additional information about the camp including health and safety guidelines, and reminders via email. Class sizes are limited to 10 students. Masks are required. For questions, please email karina@urbanglass.org.
