Light, Design, Color, Magik: Intermediate Neon

May 24th - June 28th
James Akers |

Let’s explore the magik of light! This is an intermediate to advanced neon class dedicated to color exploration, pattern design, basic animation and bending to patterns. Over six weeks, you will learn new tips and tricks for efficient and explorative neon bending, and delve into the basics of animating your signs. Participants will leave colorful neon lights, the ability to create a digital sketchbook of blinky designs and the skills to make many of those designs a reality!

What to Expect: Students will split time between the neon studio and classroom. Neon demonstrations will lead into student work time. Classroom conversations will cover basic animation - methods for making your neon sign blink. Students should come with an open mind, interested in experimenting and walking away with some new skills. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page

Eligibility: Students comfortable with making basic bends and seals to a pattern will get the most out of this class. Open to ages 14 and up.

Pick-up: Neon tubes will be bombarded during class, so students should leave with finished units of neon. Should processing take additional time, students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.

This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration.
