Layer Up: Glass Lamination

October 20th - October 21st
Sasha Zhitneva |

Layers are not only the answer for cold seasons, they also have their merits in working with glass. Just like in fashion, when several layers of light clothing give us more options to face the elements and express our personal aesthetics, laminating layers of glass enriches one's artistic palette and expands technical vocabulary.

This class will cover the technical steps of the process of glass lamination. As we explore how to design for a particular desired outcome, we’ll use transparency, translucency, opacity, and textural variety of glass as our visual palette. Through blocking, redirecting, reducing or enhancing light, alternating the luminosity and vibrancy of it, we will create glass panels that effectively combine multiple properties and are visible both day and night. Participants will create several tiles or a moderate size panel utilizing the myriad, beautiful options of glass.
