Intro to Glassblowing (September - October)

September 7th - October 12th
Terri Sigler |

Join us for an exciting 6 week introduction with hot glass! Students will learn the introductory skills of glassblowing, such as how to take a “gather” of molten glass out of the furnace, make simple vessels, and work in small teams in the glass studio! While focusing on building these new hand skills, students will learn how to make colorful glassware in essential beginner forms such as cups and bowls.

What to Expect:

Expect to be delighted and challenged by this unusual material. Over the six weeks students will gain confidence handling and shaping molten glass. Students can expect to work collaboratively with others in the class to bring projects to fruition. By the end of the course, students will each have between six and eight handmade items to take home with them. The hot shop is a loud studio, and can get quite warm. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.

Eligibility: No previous experience required. Open to ages 14 and up.

Pick-up: The glass needs to cool down overnight, so the students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.

This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration.
