Hoops and Dangles: Glass and Silver Earrings
December 9th - December 16thBianca Abreu |
This collaborative course is all about earrings! Over the course of two Saturdays we will execute two pairs of earrings from start to finish using production-style methodology. For week 1 students will learn to flamework beads at UrbanGlass and spend time creating a matching set. These will become a part of their finalized wearable pieces at Brooklyn Metal Works in week 2 of the course, where students will be learning basic soldering, plier work, and other metal fabrication techniques. Students will be able to take their completed pieces home with them at the end of the second class, or wear them out if they choose!
What to Expect: Beadmaking requires a little practice at heat control with the torch to create successful beads. After demonstrations, expect to make between 2 - 6 successful objects in this class, and a couple failures, while gaining confidence and skill in the studio. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.
The first class will take place at UrbanGlass 647 Fulton St, Brooklyn, NY.
The second class will take place at Brooklyn Metal Works 640 Dean St, Brooklyn, NY
Eligibility: Previous experience in glass and metals is not required as this is an introductory course. Open to ages 14 & up.
Pick-up: The instructor will transport glass parts from UrbanGlass to Brooklyn Metal Works for Day 2.
Due to the collaborative nature of this course, we are unable to accept UG general scholarship applications. Bead Project Alumnae are encouraged to apply for the Chelicca Scholarship for this course.
