Glass and Flora: Designing Vessels for Flowers

November 10th - November 11th
William Couig, Elise Bernhardt |

In this class we’ll explore the practical relationship between form and function as we fabricate vessels to showcase a variety of floral arrangements. This weekend workshop will devote the first day to work in the hot shop where we will focus on designing vases that will lend themselves well to displaying flower designs. After a brief intro into kinds and principals of floral design on Saturday, we will spend time Sunday learning basic flower preparation and maintenance and making arrangements that compliment the design of the vase you have created. Flowers will be sourced from the 28th St. Flower Market. Open to all skill levels but students with no experience in glass blowing should expect to have their design(s) fabricated for them by class staff.
