G2 : Glass and Graphics

Explore a variety of fusing and imagery techniques in this six-week workshop. Students of all skill levels will enjoy a taste of the many ways to transfer graphics onto flat glass and three-dimensional forms, with an emphasis on sandblasting and enamel painting. The methods covered in this course will include decals, photo-resist, reverse painting, under-painting and layering imagery.

We will also cover the process of cutting/grinding sheet glass, examine multiple fusing styles, and writing proper kiln schedules.

Students enrolled in this course have access to Student Hours- scheduled time outside of class to practice and work on projects throughout the semester. For any questions regarding this access please contact Kellie at kelliek@urbanglass.org.

Dorie Guthrie

Born in 1982 in Moline, Illinois, Dorie Guthrie was first exposed to the medium when she stumbled upon a small glass studio in her hometown. Since graduating from Illinois State University in 2008, Guthrie has continued her studies, being awarded scholarships, at Corning Museum of Glass, Penland School of Craft, and Pittsburgh Glass Center where she furthered her technique.
