From Studio to Proposal: Professional Art Writing

July 22nd - August 5th
Caroline (Coco) Picard |

As professional artists, we need a series of written texts when applying for grants, exhibitions, or residencies; submitting project proposals; or working with galleries on press releases. This class tackles the difficulty of translating studio efforts into words using the real life examples of students' respective studio practices and comparing them with the existing practices and associated texts of others. At the end, students will have a sample of three texts: an artist statement and an artist bio, and a mock grant proposal. The course creates a working understanding of how those texts work so that they can be adapted and revised for future opportunities.

This is a virtual class taking place online via Zoom. A Zoom link will be emailed to you upon registration with further instructions for accessing the class.
