Flabbercast

December 22nd - December 23rd
Joshua Raiffe |

This workshop is open to all ages! One of the beautiful things about glass is its ability to be worked by a plethora of techniques. There is no shortage of processes an artist can employ to manipulate this dynamic material. Often times, however, artists work within the boundaries of one particular process, limiting themselves to a single technique. This class is about breaking down the invisible barrier between two glass-making methods: hot casting and glassblowing. In this class, students will learn to integrate pouring, casting, and blowing hot glass, unleashing new potential for innovation and unique forms. There is no predicting where the marriage of these techniques will take us because the possibilities are endless and the students are driving the boat. Open to all levels, age 11 and up.
