Embrace the Moment

January 8th - January 12th
Michael Hernandez |

Glass has the ability to be fluid in its molten state, and almost immediately become static as it cools. This unique characteristic offers artists the ability to capture momentum and freeze transitional forms. This class will explore the expressive potential and intensity of the hot glass by capturing this transformation through objects, sculpture, and pyrography. In the kilnforming studio, we will take a much more calculated approach to creating flow and freezing the movement of glass pieces. Strategies for using hot and warm processes will provide physical studies to explore the formal and metaphorical potential of capturing movement and flux in glass.
