Composite Forms

October 20th - November 24th
Alex Demmerle |

This class is intended for intermediate level students with a basic foundational knowledge of glassblowing. In this class we will learn to design and make objects made up of multiple components merged together. Students will explore techniques such as pulling necks, handles, and feet as well as other various decorative elements. The structure of this course will involve a daily demo followed by intensive work time for students to practice the techniques required to compose forms from multiple parts. The instructor will work closely with students to help them achieve goals and workshop designs throughout this class, we will open and close classes with a discussion and question period.

What to Expect: Students will work in teams and learn how to move safely but efficiently through the studio bringing bits and assembling cups. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.

Eligibility: Previous glassblowing experience required. You should have 1-2 years of experience, and feel comfortable gathering and moving through the steps of making a basic cup. Don’t feel ready yet? Check out our more introductory classes to build your skills. Open to ages 14 and up.

Pick-up: You can expect to bring some work to fruition during class that can be taken home at the end of the week. If anything is made on the last day of class, students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.

This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration.

We recommend registering for classes early to reserve your spot! We base materials, and teacher needs off of student enrollment. Early registration not only guarantees your spot in class, but also helps to ensure the class will run. Classes with low enrollment may be cancelled within two weeks of the start date of class. Contact our Registrar of Education, Ari Eshoo, at arianna@urbanglass.org if you have questions about the class or would like to arrange a payment plan.
