Boro Basics
November 9th - December 21stBen Barocas |
In this class you’ll be introduced to melting borosilicate glass in the flame. We’ll go over how to work both solid and hollow forms using both clear and color glass. Our main goal for this class is to get you comfortable with the lampworking tools and equipment, and with manipulating hot glass in the flame. You will also be introduced to some of the different patterning and shaping techniques used in lampworking to add stunning designs to your work.
Class will not meet on November 23rd
What to Expect: Students will work on a number of small projects including pendants, marbles, vessels, or ornaments. Pieces need time to cool after being annealed. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.
Eligibility: Some experience working borosilicate glass will be useful but is not required. Open to ages 14 and up.
Pick-up: The glass needs to cool down overnight, so the students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.
This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration.
