Beautimous and Luminous!

May 18th - June 22nd
Emily Craddock |

In this 6-week introductory workshop, students are encouraged to explore the brilliant and sculptural potentials of neon! The first four weeks of class will be split between demonstrations given by the instructor and guided personal exploration. Demonstrations will include: the fundamental techniques required to bend and weld hot glass tubing, tips and tricks on how to make a bending pattern, wiring a neon unit to a transformer, and several ways to install neon (indoors only). In the last two weeks, students can focus on a project or continue to playfully experiment with the material. This course is guided towards the beginner, but can be utilized by an intermediate as a platform for troubleshooting a project or refreshing one’s skills.

This class has access to Student Hours for the semester, dedicated hours open to student use. Glass processes take practice, so utilize this free time in our studios to learn! For details email Kellie at kelliek@urbanglass.org.
