Alan Iwamura

Alan Iwamura explores glass in its many forms as a pursuit to contextualize the duality of identity and difference. Drawing on narratives that seek to bridge the gap between oneself and one’s lived experience, Iwamura’s works occupy a space of familiarity and estrangement.

Alan Iwamura is currently the Glass Studio Manager at the Toledo Museum of Art. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from CSU, Fullerton and a bachelor’s degree in studio art and education from CSU, Chico. Iwamura has taught accredited courses in glass for many institutions across the United States. He is a recipient of the Leo Friedman Graduate Fellowship, New York’s Metropolitan Glass Group Fellowship, Craftsperson in Residence, (Gaffer), at Pilchuck Glass School, and his artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
