Subscribers to GLASS: The UrbanGlass Art Quarterly will find something special when they open their mailboxes to retrieve their Summer 2011 edition. GLASS is collaborating with The Corning Museum of Glass to distribute its annual journal known as New Glass Review bundled together with the regular quarterly magazine that will arrive in subscriber mailboxes before June 1st, 2011. There is still time to sign up to receive this special offer in your mailbox at no additional charge from your regular one-year subscription price of $28.

Each year, New Glass Review features 100 images of new works in glass from around the world. The 2011 jurors are Diane Charbonneau, curator of photography and contemporary decorative arts, Musée des Beaux-Arts, Montreal; Richard Harned, director, The Ohio State University Glass Program, Department of Art, Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio; Mark Zirpel, assistant professor, Dale Chihuly Endowed Chair of Glass, School of Art, University of Washington, Seattle; and Tina Oldknow, curator of Modern Glass at The Corning Museum of Glass.

This new arrangement brings together two longstanding publications devoted to art from glass. New Glass Review is intended to keep museums, artists, libraries, collectors, scholars, and dealers informed of recent developments in the field. New Glass Review was founded in 1976 by the late Thomas S. Buechner, founding director of The Corning Museum of Glass. GLASS: The UrbanGlass Art Quarterly was founded in 1979 by Richard Yelle, the founder of the New York Experimental Glass Workshop, which was renamed UrbanGlass. For over 30 years, the magazine has been devoted to providing serious discourse about glass as a medium of contemporary art.

“The distribution of New Glass Review with GLASS Quarterly magazine will dramatically increase the distribution of this leading, peer-reviewed publication in the United States,” said the Corning Museum’s Tina Oldknow. “The Museum is proud to be associated with GLASS Quarterly, the premier American magazine for contemporary glass.”

“Each year, the arrival of New Glass Review is eagerly awaited as a source for discovery of exciting high-quality new work by artists from around the world,” said Andrew Page, editor of GLASS. “We are honored to have been chosen by The Corning Museum of Glass for this distribution arrangement.”

While the cover price of the summer 2011 edition of GLASS will be raised from $7 to $10 at the newsstand for the special two-magazine deal, subscribers will receive their bundled issue of GLASS with New Glass Review at no extra charge. Subscriptions to GLASS: The UrbanGlass Art Quarterly can be made via email at subscribe@glassquarterly.com, online at www.glassquarterly.com, or by phone at 718 625 685, ext 222.
