Call for Donations: Beadmakers group seeks jewelry for online fundraiser

This donated glass bead by J.C. Herrell features a highly contemporary brick motiff and cylindrical shape.

The International Society of Glass Beadmakers is seeking donated glass beads, jewelry, and other small functional items in glass for its first-ever online fund-raising auction entitled “The Rites of Spring.” From April 5th through the 26th, donated items will be available for bidding through EBay‘s nonprofit site MissionFish.

“By using an online auction, we hope to reach out beyond our membership to educate the public about ISGB, art glass beads, and the wonderful artists who support us,” reads the official ISGB announcement.

Those interested in donating a bead, a finished jewelry piece, or a functional object such as a wine stopper or letter opener will have the opportunity for wider exposure with biographical information included on the item’s individual auction page. An ad for the fundraiser will appear in Ornament magazine as well as the ISBG’s own publication, The Glass Bead. To participate, artists should email a digital picture of a piece and together with an attachment of the completed application form available as a Microsoft Word file that can be downloaded here. The actual piece should be mailed to the address below.

The deadline for submissions is March 29th.
