UrbanGlass is pleased to present the work of artists Romina Gonzales and Edison Zapata. This show will coincide with the first Spring season the studio is open to the public after 2 years of major renovations. These two artists are presenting their work and ideas as OFFCENTRE, a new design collective, that takes advantage of situations that can be seen as mistakes and exploits them to create a distinctive visual language.

Opening Reception: Saturday, February 1, 6 - 8pm

Constantin Boym proposes a collection of incense burners made of borosilicate (Pyrex) - a special glass that is clear and heat-resistant. The idea of crystal-clear objects for producing and experiencing an aroma is both poetic and practical. The prototypes, hand-made by the glass master Massimo Lunardon in Veneto, Italy, promote a new vision for the time-honored objects of Arab culture. In the exhibition, the new objects are presented alongside their traditional prototypes from the region, to better illustrate the process of "learning" and to highlight the dialectic between continuity and innovation.

Started in 2004, UrbanGlass's Annual MFA Exhibition highlights emerging artists who use glass in their work. This year's show will present large-scale sculpture by artists whose work explores the natural world through the combination of glass, found objects, wood, and technology. The MFA Exhibition will feature work by Melissa Athey, Sarah Briland, Weston Lambert, and Wil Sideman.

Featuring almost 2,000 drinking glasses from artists, designers, and community members from around New York City and around the world, A Tree Grows is a site specific, participatory installation by Katherine Gray that uses the tree as a metaphor to speak about community.
