In Conversation: Christina Bothwell & Heidi Mortensen

Join us for a conversation between currently exhibiting artists, Christina Bothwell and Heidi Mortensen, for a peek into the inspiration, material, and method of their respective bodies of work! The conversation will be followed by the remainder of our closing celebration.
About Christina:
Originally trained as a painter, Bothwell studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts under Will Barnett. Over time she gradually moved to working three-dimensionally using cast glass and ceramics as well as found objects. Bothwell has won numerous scholarships and grants. Her work is held in more than a dozen permanent public collections including the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning NY; Racine Art Museum, Racine, WI; Shanghai Museum of Glass Art, Shanghai, China; Mobile Museum of Art, Mobile, AL; Palm Springs Museum, Palm Springs, CA and the Alexander Tutsek Foundation, Munich, Germany.
About Heidi:
Pulling from personal history and using elements related to the body, nature, and the space of the home, Mortensen explores themes of loss, connection to place, and memory. Her detailed work involves casting in glass, metal, resin, and plaster, and incorporates clay, wood, thread, fabrics, ash, salvaged and personal objects. Mortensen received a BFA in Sculpture from the University of Hawai’i and MFA in the Sculpture Dimensional Studies program at Alfred University, New York. Her work has been included in numerous exhibitions and in 2024 she received a fellowship to the Cite Internationale des Arts Residency in Paris, France.
