Class Schedule: Friday, June 6th, 6-9pm, Saturday & Sunday, June 7th & 8th, 10am-6pm

In this 3 day intensive class , students will be given a clear or multi-colored block of Bullseye glass, and will be introduced to a wide range of Cold Shop equipment to carve the block into a small scale sculpture.  Areas covered will include sawing, grinding and polishing, drilling, wheel cutting, wheel and flexible shaft engraving, sandblasting and hand lapping. Each of these techniques allow for an array of possibilities when creating in the cold shop. Hands on work will be complemented by a short presentation on historical and contemporary cold worked glass.

What to Expect: Students can expect to watch a number of demonstrations and have time to practice coldworking on three objects using different techniques. Tools and materials will be provided. The cold shop equipment can be loud, and all equipment is water fed. Students should wear waterproof shoes. An apron, safety glasses, and ear protection are provided.

Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.

While working in the cold shop, working the equipment involves mostly standing, sometimes for long periods. Working glass on the equipment requires a certain amount of dexterity and grip.  To learn more about accessibility please refer to the website’s accessibility page.

Eligibility: No previous experience required. Open to ages 12 and up.

We recommend registering for classes early to reserve your spot! We base materials, and teacher needs off of student enrollment. Early registration not only guarantees your spot in class, but also helps to ensure the class will run. Classes with low enrollment may be cancelled within two weeks of the start date of class. Contact our Registrar of Education, Ari Eshoo, at arianna@urbanglass.org if you have questions about the class or would like to arrange a payment plan.

This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass.
