This beginner workshop will guide students in the creation of their very own glass objects using borosilicate glass. Working with a ring mandrels not only to make rings but to use the end of the mandrel to create a small standing vase. With safety talks and demonstrations, students will learn the process of melting colorful glass rods at the torch and how to use a basic set of tools to shape the molten material.
What to Expect: ring-making requires a little practice at heat control with the torch to create successful objects. After demonstrations, expect to make between 2 - 6 successful objects in this class, and a couple failures, while gaining confidence and skill in the studio. Eligibility: No previous experience required. Open to ages 12 and up.
Pick-up: The glass needs to cool down overnight then be carefully removed from the mandrels, so the students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.
This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration.
