Let’s Make Parts! Glassblowing + Mixed Media

October 7th - November 11th
Alex Krueger |

Students will work on projects utilizing glass as a component to a greater body of work.  Students will work on developing objects that are quick and immediate.  Utilizing its inherent properties, light, color, and a little bit of artistic magic. Students are encouraged to think of ways to create that don't require a super skill set of making.  In this class we will break down the basics and build solid foundations. Students will be examining ways to create dynamic objects without the burden of being constrained to status quo ways of making art.  Objects will be taken from the hot shop and later worked on cold.  Students will be adding materials such as: two part epoxy clay, paint, glue, and found objects and materials. Sketch books are highly encouraged as a way to communicate with fellow students. The items and sketches from each student's books may even end up in the final piece.   Whether a student is an experienced or beginner artist, this class will meet them where they are within their practice. Our glass objective is to develop styles that use glass as a component and a foundation to create a greater whole.
