Intro to Glassblowing Weekend (April)

April 22nd - April 23rd
Terri Sigler |

Curious about glassblowing? Join us for a weekend workshop. We’ll approach glass with curiosity and fun while learning basic glassblowing skills. Working in teams, we’ll explore the characteristics of hot glass and basic sculpting techniques. Gathering a glob of hot molten glass, everyone will have the opportunity to explore its wonders while manipulating it into a colorful sculptural form. Next, we’ll introduce blown forms, first blowing orbs and then making your first blown cup!

What to Expect: Over the weekend class, students will learn how to gather and manipulate molten glass. There will be some demos but it will mainly be supported work time and room for students to become familiar with this material. The students can expect to leave with solid sculptures and blown vessels. The hot shop is a loud studio, and can get quite warm. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.

Eligibility: No previous experience required. Open to ages 14 and up.

Pick-up: The glass needs to cool down overnight, so the students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.

This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration.
