Intro to Beads (March)

March 23rd, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
Kenya Chester |

In this one day course, students will learn beginner level flameworking skills to create their very own glass beads and pendants.  We will focus on basic beadmaking skills and fundamentals around working with soft glass.  The second half of the class will include detail and decoration demonstrations - such as pulling stringers and using frit to sculpt and manipulate your work.  After demos, the remainder of the class will be dedicated to working on finessing and building your new beaded creations.

What to Expect: Beadmaking requires a little practice at heat control with the torch to create successful beads. After demonstrations, expect to make between 2 - 6 successful objects in this class, and a couple failures, while gaining confidence and skill in the studio. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.

Eligibility: No previous experience required. Open to ages 12 and up.

Pick-up: The glass needs to cool down overnight then be carefully removed from the mandrels, so the students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.

This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration.
