Intro to Beads: Dichroic Glass Beads

July 28th, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Maria Aroche |

Give your glass beads an extra sparkle with Dichroic glass! This multicolor specialty treated Effrette glass gives your beads a very special look, while adding texture with a holy roller or an aluminum marver. After a talk on safety, a short demonstration, students will begin the process of melting colorful glass rods at the torch and how to use tools to shape the molten glass.

What to Expect: Beadmaking requires a little practice at heat control with the torch to create successful beads. After demonstrations, expect to make between 2 - 6 successful objects in this class, and a couple failures, while gaining confidence and skill in the studio. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.

Eligibility: No previous experience required. Open to ages 12 and up.

Pick-up: The glass needs to cool down overnight then be carefully removed from the mandrels, so the students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.

This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration.
