We are experiencing technical difficulties with the registration via the website.  To sign up for this class use the direct link HERE.  We apologize for any inconvenience.  Please reach out if you are having trouble signing up and we will work with you to get you registered.

Come learn the craft of fusing glass! We will learn to cut and create really fun and usable objects for your home or as gifts. In this class, we will cover making plates, dishes,  bowls, and anything else you can imagine.  Designing with imagery and shapes on glass is a really fun way to explore the material. Discover different kiln techniques and schedules as we work through how temperatures change glass. See you there!

What to Expect: By the end of this class, you'll have a collection of your own handcrafted fused glass pieces, each a testament to your newfound skills and creativity. Whether you're looking to embark on a new artistic journey or simply explore a captivating craft, our Introduction to Kiln-Forming class is the perfect way to get started. Students will create 3-6 works along with several experiments, no bigger than 10” in any direction, utilizing available sheet glass, frit, and powders. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.

Kilnforming work involves a mix of seated and standing activities, including preparing glass pieces for firing, and loading and unloading the kiln. A particulate respirator mask is required when working with fine glass powders or unloading kilns after firing. Handling glass and tools may require a certain level of dexterity. Learn more about accessibility on our website.

Eligibility: No experience required. Open to ages 14 and up.

Pick-up: Students may have to return after the last day of class for any work fired during the last class.

We recommend registering for classes early to reserve your spot! We base materials, and teacher needs off of student enrollment. Early registration not only guarantees your spot in class, but also helps to ensure the class will run. Classes with low enrollment may be cancelled within two weeks of the start date of class. Contact our Registrar of Education, Ari Eshoo, at arianna@urbanglass.org if you have questions about the class or would like to arrange a payment plan.
