Deadline for 2024 Berlin GAS conference proposals is July 30th

The 2024 Glass Art Society Conference, scheduled to take place next year from May 15th through the 18th in Berlin, Germany, will be the first time since the 2018 Murano GAS conference that the annual gathering of glass artists will take place in Europe. The deadline to submit a proposal for the Berlin event is Sunday, July 30, 2023 at 11:59pm PST, with those responding to the Call for Proposals directed to the Submittable platform. (Clicking the link takes you to the official GAS application form.)

Coming off the 2023 Detroit conference, which brought together "nearly 900 individuals" according to a conference wrap-up blog post, the 2024 event, which is themed "Where Art + Design Meet,” will take place in another UNESCO Design Cities (both Detroit and Berlin have been given this designation). A City of Design identifies as an important hub for the arts, and is noted as a location where landmark developments in industry and craft have come to fruition. With the theme of "Where Art + Design Meet," the Berlin conference "will focus on the space where art meets design, the synergy between the two, and the relationships between artists and designers," according to the conference Website.

As an organization with growing global membership, the Glass Arts Society has ambitions to become an increasingly international resource for sharing and networking opportunities for its members and supporters, which include artists, collectors, and suppliers. The organization has not been without its own challenges, as evidenced by multiple staff changes in 2023.
