This weekend, the late Jonathan Christie‘s father, David Christie, and closest friend, James Mongrain, will begin posting information on Facebook about a memorial service being billed as a “Celebration of Jon’s Life.” The event will take place from 11 AM to 2 PM on October 20, 2013 at Dale Chihuly’s Boathouse on Union Lake, Seattle.
“Dale has been incredibly generous by offering this location,” wrote David Christie, in an email to the GLASS Quarterly Hot Sheet. “Those who have been there tell me it is absolutely awesome, and it’s also wonderful because Jon worked there on many occasions.”
After the initial Facebook posting, Christie and Mongrain will follow up with Evite invitations to those who respond either on Facebook, or by emailing Christie at jolo1314@comcast.net
Don’t expect this to be a morose and somber occasion. As a tribute to someone who lived life to the fullest, the tone of the event will be decidedly upbeat. “We plan on making this a joyous occasion, sharing happy memories of working relationships, and ‘after hours’ exploits,” explains Christie.
