Help Wanted: University of Wisconsin—River Falls seeks assistant professor of glass for tenure

The campus of University of Wisconsin, River Falls is just 30 miles from Minneapolis.

The art department at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, about 30 miles from Minneapolis, is seeking a full-time assistant professor with a deadline to apply of February 21st, 2011. Billed as tenure-track, this position starts in Fall of this year and comes with a teaching load of three studio classes per semester and a salary that will be negotiated based on qualifications, including education and experience. Responsibilities include teaching introductory glass classes, as well as courses on Studio Glass. Classes in drawing, design foundation, and art appreciation will also be the responsibility of the successful applicant, as will running the hot and cold shops and serving on department and university committees.

The requirements for the position include an MFA in glass, a minimum of three years of teaching at the university or college level, experience operating a glass facility, and a strong exhibition record. Applications are being accepted online only.

According to the official job posting, those interested in applying should submit a resume, a letter of interest listing qualifications and experience, as well as an artist statement, a teaching philosophy, sample(s) of teaching syllabi, images of one’s own artwork and those of students in PDF files, and a separate statement addressing one’s ability to contribute to the enhancement of student awareness and appreciation of diverse cultures. Applicants should include an unofficial transcript (official copies will be required if hired) and the names, addresses and telephone numbers of at least three references who can specifically comment upon one’s “teaching ability, experience, and professional preparation.”
