Lino Tagliapietra will headline a star-studded celebration at the Glass Furnace in Istanbul from April 21st through the 27th.
In celebration of its 10th year, the Glass Furnace, an international nonprofit glass school located in Istanbul, Turkey, will be hosting demos by Lino Tagliapietra. Working alongside the maestro will be Dante Marioni and Janusz Pozniak, bringing serious glassblowing star power to a six-day event that runs from April 21st through the 27th. Lino’s goal is to create 100 unique pieces during the week-long event that will bring together some of the most highly skilled hands in the world of glassblowing.
The Glass Furnace was established by Yılmaz Yalçınkaya in 2002 to bring together international glass artists and students, in a region of the world that has its own ancient glass traditions. The school was founded to contribute to the development of contemporary Turkish glass and fine arts. Since the day it was founded, The Glass Furnce has been hosting world renowned artists, teaching various glass techniques to Turkish students and students from all over the world, through different duration workshops.
Tickets to the April 2012 fundraiser celebration are US$100 (plus VAT) for each of the six days, or a package deal of US$500 for all. There is a limit of 60 tickets for any single day, and there will be two sessions per day, for a total of 12 three-hour-long demos to witness. The glassblowing team will work from 9 – 12, and 1 to 4 each day. Lunch will be served, and is included with the daily ticket price.
