British Glass Biennale Best in Show goes to Gaea Todd

An installation during her residency at Middlesex University, Gaea Todd's Reverberations (2009) uses wine-filled glass tubes reverberate easily.

At the 2010 International Festival of Glass, which ran from August 27th – 30th in Stourbridge, England, there was the announcement of the participants in the British Glass Biennale, which continues on exhibit through September 11th. A total of 82 artists were named as participants in the exhibition. Top honors for “Best in Show” were given to a 2009 work by Royal College of Art MFA graduate Gaea Todd for her installation entitled Reverberations (2009) which she created during her artist residency at Middlesex University. The work uses wine-filled slender glass rods to point out marks of human presence.

Held at the former Royal Doulton – Webb Corbett factory which has just been renovated as the Ruskin Glass Centre on Wollaston Road in Amblecote, Stourbridge, West Midlands, the exhibition will be on display from August 27 through September 11, 2010.
