Started in 2004, UrbanGlass's Annual MFA Exhibition highlights emerging artists who use glass in their work. This year's show will present large-scale sculpture by artists whose work explores the natural world through the combination of glass, found objects, wood, and technology.


A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University's Craft/Material Studies program, Melissa Athey's work uses glass and robotics to create installations that explore our sense of self. 

The installations of Sarah Briland, also a graduate of the Craft/Material Studies program at Virginia Commonwealth University, are inspired by the writings of Pliny the Elder, whose studies of science and biology connected inseparably to his studies of painting, drawing and sculpture. 

Weston Lambert, a recipient of a Joan Mitchell Foundation grant for his thesis exhibition at Tulane University creates large-scale sculptures of glass, wood and aluminum. His work, which encases glass inside protective rigid enclosures, references methods of seed dispersal. 

Through his work Wil Sideman, a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, explores his family's relationship to the sea. Through the transparency of glass, his sculptures expose the intimate and life-sustaining relationship between tools and those who used them,
